Why I believe wedding desserts should be more than beautiful—they should give your guests something to talk about.
_________
There are certain things guests expect to see at a wedding: a beautiful cake, a table of mithai, maybe cookies, cupcakes or another familiar sweet.
I love tradition. But when I started creating desserts for weddings, I kept thinking: what if we could take the flavors people already love and present them in a way they’ve never experienced before?
That idea is at the heart of every wedding dessert table and favor we create at Knead Some Love NY. Because when our donuts arrive at a wedding, 9 out of 10 guests in the room have never seen anything quite like them. And that moment of discovery is exactly what I want.
Familiar Flavors. Completely Unexpected.
My inspiration begins with South Asian flavors—saffron, cardamom, rose, pistachio, mango, chai, rabdi and gulab jamun.
These are flavors that remind so many of us of celebrations, family and home. At Knead Some Love NY, I reinterpret them as handcrafted donuts that feel nostalgic and completely new at the same time.
Think Ras Malai Rabdi, Rose Pistachio, Mango Lassi, Gulab Jamun or Kesar Thandai.
For guests who grew up with these flavors, there’s an instant connection. For those experiencing them for the first time, there’s an element of surprise. I love that both can happen at the same table.
Baked, Never Fried
Every Knead Some Love donut is baked, not fried—something that has been intentional from the very beginning.
I never wanted to simply take a traditional donut and add an Indian-inspired topping. I wanted every element to feel considered, from the cake and glaze to the creams, textures and finishing touches.
Everything is handcrafted in small batches using real, premium ingredients—real saffron, fragrant cardamom, pistachios, rose, mango and thoughtfully made glazes and creams.
At a wedding, where everything from the flowers to the tablescape has been chosen with such care, I believe dessert deserves that same attention.
A Dessert Table That Feels Like Your Wedding
A beautiful dessert table shouldn't feel like something that was simply dropped into the room. It should feel like it belongs there.
When creating a wedding dessert experience, I consider the aesthetic, colors, guest count, flavors the couple loves and how guests will interact with the display.
Sometimes that means an abundant tiered arrangement. Sometimes it's minimal and editorial. Either way, the goal is the same: to create a beautiful moment that draws people in.
A Wedding Favor They'll Actually Want to Take Home
I approach wedding favors the same way. Instead of another favor guests may leave behind, we create personalized donut boxes designed to become one final sweet moment from the celebration.
From the flavors to the packaging and personalized details, each box can be thoughtfully tailored to complement the wedding.
Place them at each guest's seat, arrange them near the exit or have them waiting at the end of the night. They're part favor, part dessert and part memory—and, most importantly, they're meant to be enjoyed.
One of my favorite reactions at a wedding isn't simply, “That's so pretty.” It's: “Wait…what is that?”
Someone tries one. They call someone else over. Suddenly guests are gathered around the table comparing flavors and deciding which one they need to try next. That's what I want our desserts to do.
For me, that's what makes a memorable wedding dessert table. Not just how it photographs. But whether your guests walk away saying:
“I've never had anything like that before.”
With love,
